7 Exceptional Cannes Beach Clubs ( + Map)

World-famous Cannes is mostly known for its sparkling Cannes Film Festival, where celebrities from around the world attend the glamorous red carpet screenings in May. I’ll be honest, I way prefer Cannes over Nice, and I can’t exactly pinpoint why I love it but it’s been a favorite of mine since I first visited way back in 2004 as a young old and left a lasting impression on me. Yes, it has the glitz and glamour, but there’s something just special about Cannes. You’ll also find that the Cannes Beach Clubs are some of the best across the entire French Riviera.

With an amazing promenade, La Croisette, that rivals that of Nice. Cannes is one of the prettiest cities on the Cote D’Azur and a great base for exploring the towns of Antibes, St. Tropez, and nearby islands.

The beach clubs in Cannes are closely situated beside one another, so if one of your chosen beach clubs is fully booked, just head next door to the next one. With so many choices of Cannes beach clubs, it’s a good idea to sample a few and see which one is your favorite.

Most of the beach clubs in Cannes offer great restaurants, with fresh seafood and incredible French cuisine. There’s nothing quite like a bottle of Rosè on the beach in the afternoon sun. It’s peak French vacation vibes.

1. Carlton Beach Club

The crème de la crème of the Cannes Beach Clubs is the Carlton Beach Club. Exquisite and timeless in its recent renovation in 2020, the Carlton Beach Club is a lesson in sophistication and style. Dating back to 1930, the Carlton Beach Club has been a long-standing institution on the Cote D’Azur and one of the most glamorous for over 90 years.

The pontoon is the highlight and the premier spot for the Carlton Beach Club sun loungers. The iconic pontoon is so picturesque and resplendent that it’s easy to see why this is easily one of the best beach clubs in Cannes.

The staff is incredibly attentive and dining in the Carlton Beach Club is not to be missed. Make sure you book one of the few nights throughout the summer where you can witness the amazing fireworks display, dinner, and cocktails under the stars. It’s one of the most incredible nights and experiences in Cannes.

  • Pontoon €125

2. Nammos Cannes

Nammos Cannes opened it’s doors in May 2024 at the Palm Beach Cannes, which has undergone an enormous update. Demolishing the former casino and hotel, Palm Beach Cannes has been resurrected from the proverbial ashes and developed into one of the future leading luxury hotels on the French Riviera.

As part of the hotel’s update, the iconic Nammos have partnered up with Palm Beach and created the surely fabulous Nammos Cannes. The Nammos brand is world-famous in the beach club world with locations in Mykonos & Dubai.

3. Annex Beach

Located next door to the divine Carlton Beach Club and in front of the Intercontinental Carlton Hotel, you’ll find the opulent Annex Beach

Designed by Jacques Garcia and based on the stunning villas of the Borromean Islands(which have been on my bucket list forever), the restaurant and lounge are magnificently decorated.

As you make your way through to the beach, you’ll be surprised by the sheer quantity of sun loungers available at Annex Beach (130!) and how private they seem considering the volume. Unlike some of the beach clubs in Nice that squish sun loungers together like sardines, this is not the case at all in Annex Beach.

The sun loungers at Annex Beach have thick comfortable mattresses, which makes spending the day at the beach even more enjoyable. Plus there is no need to worry about bringing a beach towel as they are provided by Annex Beach staff.

4. La Plage du Festival

La Plage du Festival offers a chic and relaxed atmosphere in its premier location just off La Croisette. It has a long history that dates back to the late 19th century when it became one of the first bathing resorts in the area.

Its long-standing history has certified La Plage du Festival’s reputation for over a century and offers visitors an experience in elegance and finesse

The restaurant at La Plage du Festival overlooks the Bay of Cannes which during the summer months is an endless parade of super yachts.

La Plage du Festival even has its own ice cream bar! An ingenious and brilliant idea for beachgoers who want to cool down. There are no other Cannes beach clubs that offer that kind of service.

La Plage du Festival does not take bookings for their sun loungers, but you can reserve lunch or dinner in the restaurant.

One of the more affordable Cannes beach clubs (it’s still Cannes after all, so it’s not cheap) options is La Mandala Cannes, located just off La Croisette.

La Mandala Cannes is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon at the beach. Their lunch and dinner menus are absolutely delicious and you’ll find yourself revisiting La Mandala Cannes even if it’s just to experience dinner.

With a selection of expertly crafted cocktails and a detailed wine menu (this is the South of France after all), the wait staff will advise diners of excellent pairings to accompany dishes of fresh fish and truffle pasta.

In the months of July & August, you will need to make a reservation for lunch in La Mandala Cannes restaurant in order to secure a sun lounger for the day.
